I am an associate professor at the University of Hong Kong in the Department of Psychology. Before joining HKU, I was a postdoctoral researcher in the Temporal Dynamics of Learning Center (TDLC) at the University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego) and worked with Prof. Gary Cottrell. I received the Ph.D. degree in Informatics (Cognitive Science) from the University of Edinburgh in 2006, and my Ph.D. advisor was Dr. Richard Shillcock. I received the M.Sc. degree in Computing Science from Simon Fraser University in 2002, and my M.Sc. advisor was Prof. Bob Hadley. I received the B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from National Taiwan University in 1999.

Hi, I'm Cherry, a new member of CHA lab. I received B.S. and M.S. in Psychology from Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, where I found my interest in cognitive psychology. For pursuing a PhD degree, I began my study with Prof. William Hayward in the University of Hong Kong. Now, I joined the CHA lab and continue my PhD study under the supervision of Dr. Hsiao and Prof. Hayward. My research interests are visual perception and cognition, with a current focus on face recognition.

Hi, I am Sara, an PhD student of Dr. Hsiao. Before joining HKU, I received the MSc in Psychology of Language at the University of Edinburgh, UK. I did my Bachelor degree at the Chinese University of Hong Kong with major in psychology and minor in music. I would like to explore more in psycholinguistics and music psychology, especially in the fields of visual word recognition and music notation reading; lexical tone and musical pitch perception; linguistic and musical rhythm processing. For leisure, I enjoy playing flute, piano and writing Chinese poems. I am also interested in learning Japanese and Korean.

I am a Mphil student of Dr. Hsiao. I received my first degree in computer science from Hong Kong Polytechnic University and my postgraduate certificate in Psychology from University of Hong Kong. I am interested in human cognitive processing, especially in relation to developmental changes, clinical cases and emotions. I am currently working on projects about face processing, aging and eye movement analysis.

I am Tep, an MPhil student supervised by Dr Hsiao. I am very glad to join the CHA lab where I can do neuroimaging studies (EEG). I finished my undergraduate study at the University of Hong Kong, with double majors in biotechnology and psychology. I also spent one semester as an exchange student at UC Berkeley, where I made up my mind to go for psychology. My research interests are clinically related cognitive/neuro psychology. I am currently working on projects concerning sleep deprivation, emotion regulation, and Alzheimer's disease.
